dunhill Creative Director, John Ray reinforces his direction and vision for Spring / Summer 2015 by collaborating with Photographer Annie Liebowitz and Art Director Ronnie Cooke Newhouse of House+Holme.
Following on from the concept developed for Autumn / Winter 2014 the tone and mood of the new campaign takes as its focal point the notion of Escape – whether as a guest at a friend’s weekend retreat or travelling to a far-flung destination.
Continuing the portrayal of the inimitable spirit of the British gentleman, SS15 sees the dunhill man ‘at home’ amongst friends. The series of six campaign images features The Hon. Louis Elliot, Andrew Cooper and Alex Blamire. Three young gentlemen, elegant, discerning, educated, each of whom individually represent part of the British establishment and distinct characteristics of the dunhill man.
An English country house sets an idyllic scene, light stone and furnishings, softly lit tones and hues reflect John Ray’s sophisticated eye for this seasons colours; a vibrant palette of British pastoral and coastal shades evocative of long lazy days spent in the country or by the sea. Pieces are worn in a practical way that unintentionally reveal true character, there is a nonchalance to the way the dunhill man combines them.
Says John Ray, “The British have an underlying respect for appropriateness and the presentation of oneself. Yet often they unwittingly get it wrong; those mismatched details or unconventional pairings worn with a devil-may-care attitude strike me as inherently British. This notion of insouciance, combined with the freedom that comes with being a visiting guest at a friend’s private residence, intrigued me and informed the overriding message of escape for this spring summer collection.”
