New Ducati 1299 Panigale - A Masterpiece

Super Bikes

The design of the 1299 Panigale is enhanced at high speed: every single element turns into a masterpiece of engineered dynamics.

The 1299 Panigale is designed to provide maximum aerodynamic efficiency and every single detail is created to release the highest possible performance. This motorcycle has already been awarded numerous times internationally, the Red Dot and for the first time in 60 years, the Compasso d’Oro: the new 1299 Panigale sets new and unprecedented standards of excellence in terms of motorcycle design.

The streamlined profile of the 1299 Panigale features new fairings, redesigned rearview mirrors and an innovative windshield which improves rider protection. Oversized air intakes are useful to boost performance and the new tailpiece design enhances the racing looks. The steering angle and rake have been changed to improve the ease of handling and ensure thrilling precision.

Extreme levels of performance are also due to a close attention to detail: for this reason the swingarm pivot has been lowered by 4mm to enhance the reactive character of the 1299 Panigale and improve traction in all conditions. The new carefully designed seat with racing material allows the rider and the Panigale to feel as one, thus focusing solely on the extraordinary sensations to be had riding. The 1299 Panigale’s exhaust has been completely redesigned to better suit the new engine performance.

Whether you are riding on mountain passes, on the track, on dry tarmac, or under the rain, these controls radically improve riding pleasure and help you to safely exploit the enormous potential of the 1299 Panigale. The IMU reads the motorcycle’s spatial orientation. By interacting with the dedicated sensors, maximum precision is guaranteed for the ABS, DWC and the Öhlins Smart EC suspension.

The Öhlins control unit regulates the fork and the Smart EC single suspension system. It also handles the steering damper. As with the front fork, the rear shock too (ec ttx mono-shock) benefits from electronic adjustment of the hydraulics, both in extension and compression; also connected to the mini SCU, and is one of the crucial points of the semi-active Öhlins Smart EC suspension. The NIX-30, an upside-down fork with electronic adjustment of the hydraulics, both in extension and compression, is connected to the mini SCU, and is one of the crucial points of the semi-active Öhlins Smart EC suspension.

With the new 1285 cc Superquadro engine, Ducati once again pushes forward the limits of performance. The most advanced and powerful production built twin-cylinder on the planet is further enhanced thanks to 116 mm diameter pistons, a size never seen on a high-performance motorcycle designed for use on the road. The new 116 mm diameter pistons have enabled the Superquadro to achieve new records. Compression ratio has reached the value of 12.5:1 while the 116 mm bore, together with a 60.8 mm stroke takes the Superquadro to a full 1285 cm³.

Thanks to the 116mm bore and 60.8mm stroke, the 1285cc Superquadro has a unique bore/stroke ratio of 1.91:1. Power has been boosted on the new Superquadro engine (named after its exaggerated bore/stroke ratio) to reach 205hp at 10,500 rpm, a benchmark for a production line twin-cylinder engine. Torque reaches 144.6 Nm at 8,750 rpm and, thanks to the Riding Modes available, poLuxury-Resources-Portal-Ducati-1299-Panigalewer delivery can be adjusted according to riding style and riding conditions.

Ultralight components have been used for the engine, such as magnesium and titanium. Perfect crankshaft balance has been achieved with tungsten inserts. Box in box pistons have been redesigned as with the rings and while the gudgeon pin is covered with a DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) layering.
