Shangri-La Jakarta Presents the Rebirth of an Urban Sanctuary

Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta redefines luxury as it unveils 661 newly renovated rooms. The project was the first major room renovation since the hotel first opened on 22 March 1994.

Started in mid-2014, the project was carried out in two phases in preparation for the hotel’s rebirth as Jakarta’s only urban sanctuary.

Drawing inspiration from Indonesian artisanship from the across archipelago, the hotel lets guests discover the distinctive element of modern Indonesian art through handmade craft display, modern batik and tenun fabric, as well as wood engraving that adorn the rooms. A new colour palette revolving around creamy silver and gold, including lighter wooden furniture, embraces a look that is ‘modern elegance’. The rooms feature warm hues; new materials include new wall coverings in neutral colours and with traditional art patterns, plush carpeting and new paintings – all combined to create contemporary, yet homey hotel rooms and suites in Jakarta.

Additional upgrades include an alarm clock with a music deck; comfortable chairs have been added to suit business and leisure travellers alike. To elevate the luxurious feel, a 19-inch flat-panel television is installed in front of the bath tub in each bathroom suite. Guests can still enjoy the existing 49-inch flat-panel television, a choice of pillows, free in-room wireless Internet access and designer bath amenities.

For an elevated stay experience, rooms and suites with Horizon Club access on Level 23 offer premium services from the dedicated Club concierge who takes care of all guest needs and convenient use of a private lounge with complimentary food and beverage offerings.

Along with the room renovation project, the hotel will relaunch its Chinese restaurant, formerly known as Shang Palace, into a new contemporary Chinese dining concept. Other tempting dining options for culinary experience also provided at several restaurants and bar within the hotel. SATOO offers international-cuisine creations; Nishimura is offering Japanese cuisine; and Italian flavours are available at Rosso. Guests may simply unwind with refreshing beverages while listening to the best live band at B.A.T.S. (Bar At The Shangri-La) or have an elegant afternoon high tea at Lobby Lounge.

During leisure time, guests can take a refreshing dip in the resort-size butterfly-shaped pool surrounded by the lush gardens before indulging in an invigorating traditional massage at CHI, The Spa. The Health Club offers a well-equipped fitness centre and aerobics studio, tennis courts, sauna, and hot and cold Jacuzzis. It is located on the hotel’s fourth level, along with the 24-hour in-house health clinic.
