With the summer holidays fast approaching, The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali presents a Family Sushi Making Class for everyone to enjoy.
This hands-on activity takes place every Thursday morning from 10.30AM in the air-conditioned ambience of Hamabe Japanese Restaurant.
The class is the perfect introduction to sushi making, which is considered an art form in Japan. Participants learn how to make three different dishes including a California roll, hand roll and a free style roll that shows individual creativity.
Class participants are warmly welcomed on arrival with a customary cup of green tea and a refreshing hand towel. Aprons and hats are distributed ready a brief talk about the basics steps involved in sushi making and cooking rice.
Everyone is then allocated a work station where they will proceed to practice their rolling techniques and attempt to create a free style roll. The prize of a complimentary dessert will be awarded to the most innovative sushi maker in the group.
The final step in the session is all about knife skills and learning how to cut the rolls into even sized pieces. As Japanese cuisine not only focuses on taste but also visual appeal, essential pointers are given on how to attractively arrange these wholesome sushi bites on a plate.
Upon completion, every participant receives a delicious bento box lunch paired with green tea. There is ample time to relax and connect with others over a shared passion of good food. The class provides many handy hints and sushi making techniques that will benefit home cooks.
